Freemans Bay School
Construction began to put Freemans Bay School at the forefront of modern learning. The new redevelopment resulted in the school almost entirely rebuilt.
Aged buildings, watertightness and asbestos issues were the driver behind this redevelopment programme, where most of the existing classrooms were built in the 60’s and 70’s.
The redevelopment consisted of four new buildings, including a hall, an administration block, a library, and a two-storey learning block. The only original building that remained was a classroom block built in 2010.
During the construction phase, the school remained operational, and classrooms were shifted around the school to accommodate construction. School capacity grew to allow for 600 pupils with allowing future capacity for 1200.
Construction was completed in two stages finished in May 2018.
