The Hub consists of 1835m2 GFA of new build. The Building connects with existing Blocks L, H & E and includes the alteration and refurbishment of O Block (Holodeck area) of 255m2 (Total GFA 2090m2).
The work included a mix of triple height atrium space and three storey open plan workspace, entry foyer, break out and meeting spaces, tea points, toilets, café and commercial kitchen, visitor experience/display areas. The Hub is a signature timber engineered building to showcase timber technology and act as the public face of Scion. The building was designed using sustainable principles.
The 2000m2 facility consists of diagrid LVL wall frames, LVL floor/roof beams, cross laminated timber (CLT) floor and lift shaft panels, Glulam (glued laminated timber) and CLT entry canopies as well as structural steel to support the glazing systems integrated throughout the engineered timber
