Spencerpark Campground Amenities Block
Project NameSpencerpark Campground Amenities Block
ClientChristchurch City Council
Spencer Park Campground is a Christchurch City Council owned Holiday Park located at 100 Heyders Road, Spencerville. To increase the level of service provided to its customers a new amenities block was to be established. This development consisted of two buildings, one housing kitchen, barbeque and laundry areas, and the other housing toilets and showers.
The scope of works consisted of an engineered design concrete floor, toilet partitions, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, architectural styled roof, architectural features throughout to enhance the feel of the block on the campground and painting and decorating including fire protective coatings to plywood ceilings. The exterior consisted of painting to blockwork, landscaping, timber decks and retention swale for storm water purposes.
Being as the end user varied as this is a public holiday park, the construction of the amenities block had to be solid to withstand all types of users, and this included block walls throughout the block.
The project had to be finished prior to Christmas because of the summer holiday break, and was the sole purpose of the amenities blocks being constructed. Watts & Hughes allocated additional resources to accelerate the programme to make up the 3 weeks lost due to dewatering.
The Project was handed over to the camp 4 days before Christmas on the 21st of December
