The project description was the existing 5 storey central core building formed an integral part of the old Hospital, but had been assessed as an earthquake risk.

A separate contractor was engaged to demo the central core building down to only 2 stories and Watts & Hughes were engaged as the main contractor to do the fit out of the ground and first floors, including a new lift and a new roof and exterior refurbishment to the main central core building.

The project also included the construction of the linking corridor back to the existing main entrance of the hospital and formation of a new office formerly the BOH landing out the back of the central core. We also carried out some external ground works and service upgrades to the existing services.
