The scope of works involved a 170m² extension to the existing supermarket to support the growing demand for online shopping. The extension was constructed with a concrete slab-on-grade foundation, precast concrete walls, and a steel structure supporting an insulated panel roof. External works included the installation of a standalone structural steel pickup canopy, new drainage systems, and carpark resurfacing following recontouring works.

To minimise disruption to store staff and customers, internal alterations were carried out overnight, outside of trading hours. These works included the construction of a new entranceway, wall and bulkhead modifications to the store perimeter, replacement of checkouts and customer service areas, lighting upgrades, refreshed finishes, and partial flooring replacement. In the back-of-house areas, improvements included new floor coverings, updated decorations, and the installation of a new team room kitchen.

Works were scheduled to allow both night shift (10 pm – 6 am) and day shift (7 am – 5 pm) activities to occur concurrently, managed by two dedicated Site Managers. The night shift completed in-store works outside of operational hours, while the day shift focused on constructing the new online shopping extension to the west of the original building.

The interior works were completed ahead of Woolworths’ self-imposed Christmas blackout period. Additional works to provide access to the new online area were undertaken once the extension reached lock-up stage.
